Laia Albareda

I'm Laia, a Barcelona based illustrator born in 1985. Although since I was little my calling has always been to colour, cut, imagine and stain my hands… It was many years later that I began my journey through the arts studying photography and publisher graphic design. In 2016 I co-founded an independent children's and youth publishing house, Libros del Imaginario, managing the entire arts section. Finally, at the age of 32, I decided to redirect my professional career towards illustration. I follow a continuous learning and personal/artistic discovery, training and experimenting. I love feeling those butterflies in my belly with new projects, having new challenges to face and the diversity that illustration offers me, both in techniques and in possible applications; posters, textbooks, picture book, applied... I consider myself a Jack of all trades illustrator who adapts her style and technique to the needs of the text/project without losing my essence.
